9:00am – 10:30am Issam/Introduction/Beginner Tabla - Essential Techniques & Rhythms (This class is geared for musicians and will cover basic techniques & drills for the tabla as well as an introduction to Middle Eastern rhythms. All levels including dancers will benefit from Issam’s detailed and exemplary teaching style.)
11:00am – 12:30am Issam/Intermediate/Advanced Tabla (Issam will teach intermediate/advanced strokes and technique for the tabla in addition to a formula for creating drum solos for dancers. *Participants should possess basic drumming skills.)
12:30am – 1:30pm Lunch
1:30pm – 4:30pm Issam/Gypsy/Rhythms for Dancers/Combinations/Drum Solo Choreography (This class is geared primarily for dancers, however drummers are encouraged to attend. Issam will teach the rhythms most commonly heard in Middle Eastern music, enabling the dancer to develop a better understanding of the structure of the rhythms and the sound of the tabla. Gypsy will teach short combinations/steps/moves to these different rhythms, including a full drum Solo choreography to Issam’s Tabla Solo Number 2.)
